2014 Taster Day and BBQ

Want to give rowing or coxing a try? Come along to our taster day down by our boathouse with a BBQ on Sunday 12th October!

We welcome anyone from all abilities and we expect that 99% of you will never have rowed in your life so you'll never know if you like it or not unless you give it a go - It is THE Cambridge sport after all.

We will be giving everyone a quick technique introduction on the indoor rowing machines and then taking you out in "Tubs" which are extremely sturdy two person boats plus a cox for steering to try it out for real. We expect that each session should last around 45 minutes but you are more than welcome to come earlier or stay later to socialise and eat some of our free BBQ.

If possible email one of our Lower Boat Captains to get the latest details and tell us you're coming at lbc.men@hcbc.org.uk or lbc.women@hcbc.org.uk for men and women respectively and fill in the Doodle it pick a time slot:

Over the years we have had numerous rowers who have rowed for Homerton and then subsequently moved up and rowed at University Level in the Blues Squad and the Lightweights so if you have aspirations for the most highly regarded Blue then joining us is a must.

We will be holding Tubbing sessions in a fat boat that vaguely resembles a bathtub which are impossible to sink - I tried - so that you can have a go and see if you like it. Hopefully you will and then we'll be getting you straight into VIII's within a matter of days.

Come along to see us at the Freshers Fair on Saturday 11th @ 1pm and by then we should have organised a trial day of rowing and a free BBQ which we can tell you all about!

Row4Rob

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that Row4Rob was a great success on Saturday! See the photos of my row in HCBC kit alongside my Mum and Rob with his friends after the row. We raised over £4000 which will go towards the essential equipment needed for Rob to live life to the full.

I want to thank all of HCBC for your phenomenal support, it has been truly heart-warming. I feel so proud to be part of such a generous and compassionate club.

Have a fantastic summer,
Steph x

May Bumps 2014

Green Machine

Congratulations to all the Crews who took part in this years May Bumps, we hope you had a great time rowing in front of a crowd in their hundreds on some glorious summer days.

A special mention has to go to our W1 which was the best performing crew getting three bumps and a row over and to one member who got rather excited with their bump and had a rather "Green" make over.
