May Bumps 2015

Congratulations to all the crews who raced this week with an extra special well done to W1 and M3 who earned their Blades!! It was a tense week with M1 struggling to stay afloat (pun intended) at the beginning of the campaign before bouncing back to bump St Eddies back down and whether W1 would be able to keep up their winning streak to gain the glory of Blades.

M3 completely wiped the floor with their competition with bump after bump well before First Post Corner (I hear they even managed a bump within eight strokes one day...) and M2 put in a solid effort but was denied the bump on the second day, eventually walking away happy with a up three result.

New HCBC President

The HCBC Committee is pleased to welcome Oliver Rubens into the position as President on our committee with a unanimous vote at the committee meeting last week. Oli has taken on from Adam Marsh who had been the president for eight years. Oli has over ten years of rowing experience, including a captaincy at HCBC during his undergraduate. He currently coaches at Cambridge University Lightweights and rows for City so we look forward to his involvement with the club.

The role of the President is to provide a longer term outlook for the boat club and the President usually stays for a number of years, overseeing many committees where students fill the positions typically for a single year at a time.

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that Row4Rob was a great success on Saturday! See the photos of my row in HCBC kit alongside my Mum and Rob with his friends after the row. We raised over £4000 which will go towards the essential equipment needed for Rob to live life to the full.

I want to thank all of HCBC for your phenomenal support, it has been truly heart-warming. I feel so proud to be part of such a generous and compassionate club.

Have a fantastic summer,
Steph x
